The Cold Moon

With December marking the start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, this month’s full moon is called the Cold Moon. It has also been referred to as the Long Nights Moon because it occurs around the time of the winter solstice where the night is at it’s longest, the Oak Moon relating to the ancient Druid tradition of harvesting mistletoe from the Oak trees and the Moon Before Yule because it’s the full moon that occurs around the European winter festival of Yuletide, now associated with Christmas.
